How to Apply

Step 1: Application Form

  • $35 application fee (made payable to American College Study Abroad)
  • Send the official transcript from your home institution to the following address:

Step 2: Transfer of Credits

Within two weeks of a completed file, you will receive a Letter of Acceptance. Once accepted, take the proposed course listings to your academic advisor at your home institution. He/she will help you in determining which courses will fit your degree program.

Complete the ACD registration form, and have your advisor sign the form verifying your course selections. Send the registration form to the Study Abroad Office. Your study abroad advisor at American College will register you for classes.

Note: It is always a good idea to approve the 5 courses you plan to take, as well as several alternate courses in case of scheduling conflicts!

Step 3: Security Deposit Required

Within one (1) month of acceptance into the program, a security deposit of $500 is required. This deposit is nonrefundable and fully applied to the cost of tuition. The security deposit secures a position for you within the program and will allow your advisor to register you for your class selections. If the deposit is not paid within one (1) month of acceptance, your position is not secure and housing will not be reserved. If the one (1) month deadline has passed, contact your advisor to determine if your placement is still available.

Step 4: Visa Requirements

The Study Abroad Office will contact you if you do or do not require a visa to study.

Step 5: Pre-Departure Forms to be Completed

Complete the necessary documents in your pre-departure packet. The following forms must be submitted to the Study Abroad Office at least 2 months prior to departure.

  • Course Registration Form
  • Flight Information Form
  • Emergency Medical Form
  • Hold Harmless Agreement (initialled, signed & witnessed)
  • Residence Hall Contract
  • Liability & Health Declaration
  • Permission to Release Transcript
  • Copy of Biography Page of Passport (1st page with name and photo)
  • Step 6: Payment

Payment in full must be made at least one month prior to departure date. Payment deadlines vary by term and program.
