Internship program

International work experience is invaluable in today’s expanding global economy. Students have the opportunity to diversify their study abroad experience through an internship program, custom-designed around their desired goals, previous work experiences, and educational background.

Students can participate in internships during the fall, spring or summer. In order to apply, students must submit a letter of recommendation, a current resume or CV, a purpose statement, and the internship application form, in addition to fulfilling study abroad admission requirements. The on-site internship coordinator at ACD will arrange interviews to determine internship placement. ACD will take all necessary steps to assist in procuring an internship; however, it cannot guarantee placement.

General internship fields include:

  • Banking and Finance
  • International Business
  • Journalism
  • Marketing and Public Relations
  • Medical (support/care)
  • Politics
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Social Work
  • Travel and Tourism

NOTE: Students in other fields or with other interests may be accommodated with sufficient notice.

Academic Credits:

All internships are worth a minimum of 3 academic credit hours. Fifty hours of work time equals 1 credit hour, so a 3 credit internship will have a minimum of 150 contact hours. Students can earn a maximum of 6 academic credits. For Hospitality students, a 3 credit internship consists of 250 contact hours.

While participating in the internship program and as your schedule permits, you also may be eligible to continue classes at ACD. The internship program allows students to customize their internship experience to best fit their needs.
