Standards stipulated by an accrediting body

Accreditation indicates that an educational institution satisfies the teaching and learning standards stipulated by an accrediting body. ACD is accredited by state-approved agencies in both Ireland and the United States.

ACD has programmes accredited by the following:

The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)

  • BA (Hons) in Behavioural Science & Psychology (4 year programme)

The Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) accredits the following courses:

  • BA (Hons) in Behavioural Science & Psychology (4 year programme)
  • BA (Hons) in International Business (3 year programme)
  • BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance (3 year programme)

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) validates the following:

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management (2 year programme)

The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) is a nationally recognised accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and is recognised in Ireland by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. This body accredits the following courses:

  • Certificate in International Business (1 year programme)
  • Diploma in International Business (2 year programme)
  • BA in International Business (4 year programme)
  • BA in Behavioural Science & Psychology (4 year programme)
  • BS in Hospitality Management (4 year programme)

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region, which includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and several locations internationally. The Commission is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that defines, maintains, and promotes educational excellence across institutions with diverse missions, student populations, and resources. It examines each institution as a whole, rather than specific programs within institutions. Irish American University received Candidate status in 2009.
